Love Parks Week - Secret Nature of City Bank Nature Reserve

Next dates

Sorry, there are no future dates available

‘Secret Nature’ of City Bank Local Nature Reserve where we will be unlocking the hidden beauty of Cirencester’s secret wildlife. Fun for all ages, there'll be river dipping, bug hunts, pollinator walks, bee and hedgehog habitat creation and more!

GWTs Wild Towns Project Officer Grove Sykes will be getting his feet wet and delving into the watery world of the River Churn - join him on his quest for dragons! Meanwhile, back on dry land, Cirencester Wildlife Group will be busy searching the undergrowth for mini beasts. We’ll be using specialist bug hunting equipment to get a closer look at the invertebrate fauna of City Bank and, weather permitting, taking you on a guided pollinator walk. There will also be opportunities to explore City Bank’s Wildlife by yourself, using the iNaturalist App or by following a nature trail.

If you prefer something a little more practical, you can also construct your very own solitary bee house or help David Ryan-Ainslie from the Friends of City Bank group build a hedgehog house. Members of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Cirencester Wildlife Group and Friends of City Bank will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions you may have about the proposed changes taking place at City Bank as part of GWTs Wild Towns Project. Cakes and refreshments will also be available to feed hungry explorers! Why not join us for this wild adventure! Mel, Huw and Scott.
