Corinium Afternoons: Was a Shaman buried under a Lechlade skate park?
Next dates
- 14:00 - 15:00
In April 2020, news broke of a Bronze Age burial discovered underneath a suburban skate park in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. The site was excavated by Foundations Archaeology led by archaeologist Andy Hood and the finds were deposited at the Corinium Museum in 2022. The discovery of two individuals interred near to each other led to speculations that one may have been a Chieftain and the other, his ‘Shaman’. The news reached national and international press. Join Museum Director Emma Stuart to explore the archaeology of the site with an opportunity for discussion and a rare chance to view of some of the significant objects discovered during excavations, for the first time since they arrived at the museum and before they will eventually go on display.
