Book Week at Octavia’s Bookshop

This year, Octavia’s Bookshop are running their popular book week in support of Authors4Oceans, a collaboration of authors and illustrators who are passionate about saving our seas through the power of the arts! They are encouraging young readers to take the pledge to help tackle plastic pollution so you too can “be the change you want to see in the sea!"

Monday 29th July 11:30am & 2:30pm - For 7 to 12 years One Ticket For The Whole Day - £5 per person
Join best-selling authors and charity founders Gill Lewis and Lauren St John for an eye-opening talk about the incredible work that Authors4Oceans are doing and a joyous competition making sea-creatures out of plastic and waste for the chance to win a signed copy of their new books. An inspirational day for budding nature lovers and eco-warriors!

Tuesday 30th July 11:30am For 5 to 8 years - £3 per person
Attention all Pug and Flamingo fans! Come along and meet author Laura James and prepare to find out all about the Adventures of Pug and his best friend Lady Miranda, as well as the World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective.

Tuesday 30th July 2:30pm For 5 to 8 years - £3 per person
To all great sea-farers, come and make waves with Sue Mongredien in the great, interactive Captain Cat and the Great Pirate Race and Treasure Map event and book signing.

Tuesday 30th July 7:30pm For Grown-ups - £8 per person inc. refreshments
One for the grown-ups, feel-good fiction gem, Lucy Diamond (author of the classic The Beach Café) will be holding a special literary talk about her new novel, Something To Tell You and a Q+A with included wine and nibbles at the gorgeous Jack’s café next door followed by a signing in the bookshop.

Wednesday 31st July 11:30am For 5 to 10 years - £3 per person
Octavia's are delighted towelcome back Tracey Corderoy who will get your heart galloping with her Seaview Stables adventure series talk and book signing.

Wednesday 31st July 2:30pm For 8 to 13 years - £3 per person
Come and immerse yourself in the weird and wonderful with Anna James, author of the Pages and Co series, set in a larger than life children’s bookshop itself.

Thursday 1st August 11:30am For 9 to 14 years - £3 per person
Introducing ‘The Times Bookof the Week’ author Nicola Skinner, who will be reading from and signing her debut novel Bloom, running a creative writing Q+A and putting some green fingers into action!

Thursday 1st August 2:30pm For 4 to 6 years - £3 per person
Come aboard for author and illustrator Tom Percival’s whistle-stop tour of your imagination. Tom will read through his most recent picture book The SeaSaw and sign copies.

Friday 2nd August 11:30am For 7 to 13 years - £3 per person
Join Fleur Hitchcock in an adventure writing workshop to invent wild settings, create nefarious villains and learn how to ratchet up the tension!

Friday 2nd August 2:30pm For 8 to 13 years - £3 per person
Come and be enchanted by the power of the elements with author Ellen Renner’s dynamic story telling from her acclaimed novel Under Earth, the second installment in the Storm Witch series.

Saturday 3rd August 11:30am For 4 to 14 years - £3 per person
Rounding off our support for Authors4Oceans, author and illustrator Yuval Zommer will be diving into the world of nature with a talk about one of Octavia's favourites, The Big Book Of Blue and his newest non-fiction title, The Big Book Of Birds. Followed by an illustration workshop and signing, where you can create your own unique winged creatures.
