It's the time of year for the Tetbury Woolsack Races, the world's premier woolsack race! Held on the last bank holiday Monday in May, the Woolsack Races attract crowds of up to 5000 people and raise money for local charities and good causes.

The races allow individuals and teams to demonstrate their strength and fitness by racing whilst carrying a sack of wool up and down a hill that reaches a gradient of 1 in 4. If you fancy testing your mettle, you can apply to compete through the website!

Around the town there are celebrations with a street fair, street entertainers, local stalls and amusement rides. The many catering establishments in the town also join in to provide delicious local fare for visitors.
